Freddy vs Jason is every fan of Nightmare and Friday the 13th's dream movie. Ronnie Yu did an amazing job on this movie.
The film has the three things you expect with any Freddy or Jason movie; blood, boobs, booze, and cheesy jokes. Luckily theyre trying to be as subtle as possible with the jokes and not going completely outrageous (except for one scene)
The story is pretty much simple. Freddy is pissed that everyone forgot about him and since fear gives him his power he's pretty much screwed on doing anything. Since he isnt strong enough to go back he ressurects Jason in a very ingenious way. Jason then goes to Elm street to start killing again and everyone believes its Freddy. Once he's strong enough again he's mad that Jason wont stop killing "his children" and there you have it.
Visuals is another category where the movie excells as well. In the older Nightmare on elm street movies the effects were top-notch in their day but when you go back and watch them now its laughable. Various effects in the movie which I wont go into detail are top-notch again for our time and its great.
The ending is very well done, and I recommend this movie to any fan of either Nightmare on Elm St. or Friday the 13th. I'm actually going to go see it a second time today.
9/10 Some flaws, the somewhat forced acting in a couple places make the film lose a point. Other than that its one of my favorite movies so far this summer. You'll be laughing a lot of the time and it'll be a well enjoyed movie hopefully. Not something for someone under 17 though, dont take your kids. |
