Suppose, just suppose that the God of the Old Testament (wrathful and condemming) sent (or forced) his son (or in this instance, his daughter) to earth, that is anyplace, anytown, aka Dogville. And now just suppose that the daughter, Grace afterall, was well received, at least at first and then by degree taunted, hated, and then abused. Her cross to bear, as it were, a heavy iron flywheel. But despite all this she offered only forgiveness (listen to the last scene in her Father's car). Now, let's suppose that our Christ figure, after reviewing her torture and how the people of Dogville treated her, decided to say F@!#$@! it AND screw them all - That ladies and gentleman is this brillant story outlined by a great director, and played most brillantly by a wonderful cast. Go see it if you have an IQ above 120. |
