I really loved this movie. All I knew about it was that it was about Chuck Berris and included his experience with the CIA.
After reading other reviews and watching "making of" clips, I'm not so sure about the CIA thing, but I suspect there is something to it. Why else would it be included in his autobiography?
Regardless of the truth of the story, it really is an enjoyable movie. I was surprise at the number of A list actors in the movie. The cameos were also a pleasant surprise.
One of the funniest scenes was during the Dating Game, when bachelor No. 1 was Brad Pitt, No. 2 was Matt Damon, and No. 3 was a fat loser. Of course you know who the girl picks. But the best part was what comes later in the movie when bachelor No. 3 briefly shows up again.
If you enjoyed Berris's game shows, which I did, you'll like seeing the shows be brought back to life. I had fond memories of seeing Rockwell do Berris' dance while hosting the Gong Show.
I highly recommend this movie. I will be watching it again. |
