Okay, I'll admit that I didn't read the book before going to see the movie. I hadn't even heard to the book, but every time I saw the trailer, I got more and more excited, and I must say I wasn't disappointed. The characters are well developed overall, the plot and story is good, and while there were times I felt that there were a few scenes missing (maybe, maybe not, just my natural instinct) overall I enjoyed it.
So now I'm currently reading the book - on chap 9. And though there are differences (ages, locations, characters, plot) so far I'm enjoying the book. However, as for comparing plots, I have to say that as of right now, I like the set up of the movie's plot better than the book. I think because the mediums of these stories are geared towards different audiences, the producers had to change a few things, and I feel they were changed for the better. I just feel that Vivian's mood of wanting to be different from her pack in the movie is simply more interesting to me than the book.
For those who like the supernatural, I think you'll enjoy this movie. For those who love the book, I can see why you might not like the movie, considering they do a lot of changes simply because it's a different medium audience. However, I think if you like the book yet keep an open mind when watching the movie, you'll enjoy the movie for different reasons too.
Hope this helps! |
