The story is painful and the characters are too shallow. William Defoe should not try to be funny and Greg Kinnear should not try to be nasty. They just couldn't tell the tragic story. Rita Wilson was poignant. I'm sure Bob Crane made people laugh, and cry, the two faces of theater, but this biopic tries to be dramatic without comedy or pathos. Great costumes. Great sets. Big budget props. The writer made Crane's agent look like a hero. Autofocus Sux. |
