This is a terrific movie-both for men and women. Meg Ryan was fantastic. She was able to embody the real Jackie Kallen in mind and body-her accent was not strong enough but who cares when the story is captivating. Tony Shalhob co-stars as a chauvinistic promoter and I have to say he was great. I am not used to seeing him in such a dramatic role but he was good. Omar Epps was fabulous as the boxer with the huge potential and even bigger attitude problem and Charles S. Dutton gives the movie its paternal figure. I have to say that sports movies are not my favorites but this one was magnificently acted and is a wonderful inspiration for women and men alike. Give this one a chance-you won't regret it. |
