I laughed for 90 minutes

You can either read several reviews by stuffy critics that wouldn't laugh at Jackass in a public place (or even a private place) for fear of showing that Homer Simpson's taste in humour (football in the groin!) extends to the vast majority of us all, or you can kick back, get a few mates and a few beers and laugh yourself stupid. Jackass aims to make you laugh at people doing dumb stuff, it doesn't aim to wow you with a great plotline or make you faint with awe at the acting... It just wants to make you laugh by any means possible. If it means snorting a line of wasabi, then so be it.
Jackass is just an hour and a half of mayhem, skits, set-pieces and destruction. Reading some of the critics' reviews made me wonder if they've ever enjoyed a day of their lives, they're too busy maintaining a high-brow stance on anything that involves phsyical comedy or so called "gross" laughs. A few parts of the film were a little slow on the uptake, but the rest of it had me breathless because I was laughing too much.
It's evidently not to everyone's taste, but I would wager that quite a few of the snobs that look down upon the movie are bursting to laugh inside, but they just can't.
Go rent it on DVD and enjoy. |
