This is an excellent and thoroughly enjoyable film, although I found the other version of Four Feathers from the 1970's to be tedious and boring.
Kate Hudson does a great job in her role. The rest of the acting was quite good as well. The battle scenes were okay, but could have been better directed (maybe I expect too much after watching battle scenes in Ridley Scott's and Peter Jackson's movies).
This fictional epic fit in well with the actual events in Sudan in the 1880's and realistically portrayed the attitude of the Mahdi's followers toward the British. Overall, it was a fine addition to my collection of historical DVDs. |
