It has been a few years since I have seen this movie, but I am still plagued by its absolute nightmare-rendering ability. It's one of those instances where what you have seen cannot be unseen. In addition to burning it in a fire with its brethren of terrible movies, you pray for the quick and painless death of the persons who greenlighted this abomination of the movie film that was used in making it.
I could give it all of the worst ratings that there are, and still be able to talk about the disgusting properties of this film.
This might come as a shock to some, but *NEWSFLASH* Antonio Banderas is NOT a good actor, in any language. I'm not sure that actual words come out of his mouth, but instead just grunts and air moving through his lips to make sound. I must admit, however, that this was a perfect part for him, a drug addicted loser who can't get anything right. Yeh, that sounds about right.
Yes, Lucy Lui is hot, there is no denying that, but Charlie's Angels had better acting from her than this. This is a movie of the ages that can be used as a comparitive to other really bad movies. Now I have the ability to say, "Yeh, The Island wasn't the best movie that I've seen, but it isn't by far the worst either. That title belongs to Ballistic. Oh, you never heard of it? Neither did millions of other people just like yourself, and for good reason..." I rarely had that opportunity before, but thanks to this movie I do now!
Here is the final synopsis of the movie; Bad acting, bad Effects, Non-Existent plot, and Antonio Banderas make for the worst movie ever, bar none. I might have given this movie a bit better rating if one of the too many useless explosions had actually blown up Antonio Banderas. Darn... |
