People don't listen to what everyone tells you. "The Hunted" is by far the year's most exciting action-thriller and i mean "exciting". Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro give great performances in what would be a third-rate "First Blood"."The Hunted" tells the story of Aaron Hallam (Del Toro) a special forces soldier who is expierencing "post traumatic stress disorder" from when he was in Bosnia in 1999. Hallam saw the horrors of war and the stress has made him mad. Hallam then goes into the woods of Washington State, covered in camoflauge and armed with a combat knife, and begins a bloody rampage on hunters in the area. When the body count rises, The FBI is called in to investigate the situation. When all clues lead to a dead end a lady FBI agent (Hottie Connie Nielsen who is quite good) calls in ex-tracker, LT Bonham (Tommy Lee Jones in one of the best action performances of the year). LT has been living in Northern Canada working with WWF and has retreated into seclusion. When Bonham examines the area and the two dead bodies tells her that two men had been killed with a combat knife, he suspects that one of his students may have turned into a brutal killer. The story goes that Hallam had been trained by LT and was trained to use a knife. Knowing this Bonham and Hallam begin an exciting and violent game of cat-and-mouse with one survivor. As i said before, this film is a graphic, bloody film that takes gore to sky. I won't give too much away but action junkies will love "The Hunted" for great stunts and the surprise at the end of the film. William Friedkin's (French Connection and To Live and Die In L.A.) direction is good and makes an exciting car chase great and gives great performances from both leads. Jones and Del Toro shine in this film and The movie does not disappoint. My Review A P.S. to anyone reading my review "The Hunted" comes to DVD August 12. Special Features includes director commentary, deleted scenes and an alternate ending, two featurttes and theatrical trailer. |
