Superman Returns has a good cast including Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth, Kevin Spacey, James Marsden, Parker Posey & Frank Langella but it just didn't blow me away like it should have.
In this movie Clark Kent(Routh) returns after being gone for 6 years and finding out that he is the last son of Krypton. He then finds out that Lois Lane(Bosworth) has a kid and is engaged to one of her co-workers Richard White(Marsden). Superman's biggest nemesis Lex Luthor(Spacey) is fresh out of prison and is planning to get rid of Superman once and for all. Superman doesn't know that Luthor has found Superman's Fortress of Solitude and that he has stolen a crystal similar to the one used to generate the Fortress. Luthor plans to use the crystal to create his own world and then take over the rest of the world while killing millions. Can Superman stop him and win back Lois Lane?
The first 45 minutes was kind of slow in my opinion. Nothing much happened. Kevin Spacey was by far the best actor in this movie. He was great as Lex Luthor. My favorite part was when Superman brought the plane down in the Baseball Stadium during a game and then he got a standing ovation from the crowd and i also loved the music used in the movie. I've never been a huge fan of Superman so some people will probably disagree with my review but that's their choice. Batman has always been my favorite. He's more appealing to me. He can't pick up an island and chuck it into orbit, catch a plane from mid-air or stop bullets with his chest. Batman is just a regular guy. This movie isn't bad but it's not great either. I would pay to see it though. I would give it either a B or B-. |
