Maid to SUCK.....

That would have been a more appropriate name for this film. And Im not saying that because I don't like Jennifer Lopez acting, or because Im not partial to chic-flicks, Its simply that this movie does not convince me that this love story could really happen. Let me explain...This movie is about a maid (JLo) and a politician (Ralph Fiennes) who fall in love despite their income tax brackets. JLo is a maid, she has a son he is about 11 years old, and she works as a maid at this very luxurious hotel (name isnt important), her son has to come to work with her because his father stood him up, Ralph is staying at the same hotel. JLo is cleaning the penthouse in the hotel and she is talked into trying on some of the guests clothes (the guest isnt in the hotel at the time) and at that very moment her kid is walking the hotel and meets with Ralph Fiennes who is about to walk his dog, needless to say JLo's kid is offered to help walk the dog. But he needs permission so Ralph and the boy decide that they better find JLo and ask her permission, well..you guessed it, Ralph walks in and sees JLo in the fancy clothes and the three of them decide to go walk the dog, here is where JLo and Ralph begin to fall in love. They meet up, he taps it and is smitten by her. Ralph doesnt know that JLo is a maid...but when he finds out , he still Loves her. Bullcrap....you see this is where the movie lost me, I coudnt believe and no one could convince me that their relationship would blossom. First thing, Ralph already "had" her when he finds out she is a maid. So to think that this politician would still have feelings for JLo is unbelivable, I mean JLo is pretty hot but would a popular politician really be interested in a single mother who is a maid? Especially after he already had her in his bed? I mean we all know what Bill Clinton did and he was the President. I just feel that this movie is too far fetched for its own good. I understand its only a movie but out of all the genres of movies , Love Stories should atleast be kind of real. I liked "Pretty Woman", a banker hires a hooker and falls in love with her. That I believed. I couldnt accept the Maid-Politician love story. Just way too unreal. This movie tries so hard to get you to believe that this Love story could really happen...and it doesnt succeed. The Michael Jackson-Priscilla Presley marriage was more belivable than this crap.
Ladies, you might enjoy this film for its sappy unrealistic-love story.
Gentlemen, stay away from this one, You need a chic-flick to impress her with?, get "Never Been Kissed" instead.
Maid in Manhattan is a must stay away flick for maids of all ages.
So there you have it, Half-incredulous and half-horrendous, "Maid in Manhattan"...I dont recommend it. But thats my opinion, Im sure other folks "Loved it". So watch it and make up your own mind. |
