Not perfect, but worth a go.

Recently watched three 'bad' films in a row - Crossroads, Glitter and Swept Away. Got what I expected from the first two, but Swept Away suprised me by actually being a decent movie. It's a bit awkwardly told, but not without interest. There's plenty of humour, Madonna is fine, and the locations are beautiful. The masochistic scenes were a bit hard to watch at times (for these scenes, I think Guy Ritchie should have either toned them down, or gone to the director of Secretary for some tips on how to do it right). Certain sections of the film don't work as well as others, but if you watch this without a negative attitude, you might get a fair bit of enjoyment out of it. |
