First off I am a huge fan of Desperado. The movie, acting, direction and action in it was absolutely incredible. So I was elated when I saw the First trailor for this new movie. Now i write this completely disgusted. This movie was HORRIBLE and an absolute disgrace to Desperado. There was absoluetly no story line whatsoever. It had so many plot twists and sub-plots that you couldn't keep track. NO ONE in the movie had lines except Jonny Depp who did, by the way do an amazing job making the worst and most pointless character in history actually seem somewhat interesting. The action sequences were terrible. There were a few parts where I almost got into it but then they ruined it with another twist or some unbelievable super-human, cartoonlike move coming from Banderas. Guns coming out of seemingly thin air and El Mariachi having almost imortal-super human strengths. The movie played on every sterotype ever created and did so very badly. Antonio did well trying to save his character from the hell of this story line, but the pure stupidity of the direction and writing of the movie just took it over. Selma Hyek was misused in this movie when the trailers portrayed her as a main character. Really all she did was look really hot in flashbacks that were only seconds long. I for one am completely dissapointed with this movie and think it was a complete waste of money and time. |
