This was the best movie I've ever seen. There should be more movies like this one. Eminem is the best actor in the world. It gives a very inspirational message to all who've been trying to make it in thae rap game. There were no special effects that seemed unreal or fake, unlike some other movies nowadays. Jimmy Smith Jr seems much like what Eminem was sayin about himself about how he got into the business (refer to slim shady lp and marshall mathers lp). The part after when Alex and Jimmy are in tha factory type thing where she goes "My friends think ur crazy" and he responds "ur friends don't even know me" sounds much like the real Marshall Mathers. However, it is based upon the life of Jimmy, and not of Eminem. It just resembles it. The acting is brilliant. More movies should have Eminem in them. While some people may say that the film is too obscene, its true to the life how life across 8-Mile is. This director and actors are not afraid to express how it really is. It's also quite comical at times, like when Future sez to Jimmy "F*** the free world", and Cheddarbob sez it to the Free World leaders. At the begining there is a little mystery, about how does the name 8-Mile work into the movie. The battles are awesome, but Eminem battles much better off camera. The only gripe I have is the ending. It ends all of a sudden. There should be a sequel, most definately. I would advise people that have seen it to go pick up the 8-Mile soundtrack and then the "More Music" CD. They match the film nicely. Except for one thing, in "Lose Yourself" he says "And it's no movie, there's no Mekhi Phifer, this is my life". But nevertheless, they are some of the best CDs you can buy. So overall, if you're not too particular about language, violence, and some sexual situations, then go see 8 Mile.
