I thought the movie was absolutely beautiful and correctly portrayed the Tongan people and their culture. I, myself, was a missionary in Tonga and I could relate to some of John Grover's experiences. The movie portrayed various aspects of the Tongan culture such as the following: funerals, religion, standard of living, hardships, and loving generosity. Keep in mind, this movie was made to portray the 1950s. It is more modern in today's time, but not by much. The people are very generous and kind. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. |
