along comes Y Tu Mama Tambien, cut from the teen flick genre, but so completely fresh and original that it leaves you stunned and wondering where such genius could possibly originate from. Y Tu features some of the finest young acting talent i've ever seen, and a poignant (if slighly heavy-handed) story of growing older, and how sometimes simple plans can get very complicated. it's the story of two wealthy mexican boys who decide to take a road trip, and end up with an attractive older woman along for the ride. as the boys drive towards the coast, the plot gets more complicated and we see wonderful scenes of the fabric of everyday Mexico intertwined with some very steamy sex. this movie is raw, upfront and brash, just as many teenagers fashion themselves, and, in the end, it's a beautiful work of art that taps into the hopes, dreams and dramas of adolescene and life like few other films have ever accomplished. |
