Conveys the pitfalls of being an ABCD

The Director has not tried to make a comedy, like most movies about Indians in the US. Rather, the Director focuses on what it would be like to be an ABCD, to be torn between two cultures. A mother pulls her children towards an Indian heritage that is alien to both her children, who have grown up in the USA. They respond to their surroundings, their environment, and cannot relate to their mother's aspirations.
The son still tries to comply with his mother's wishes by going through an arranged marriage. The daughter is a complete rebel, not because she does not like her mother, but because, despite the color of her skin and her parents' ethnicity, she is NOT Indian. She is American.
Not that it is a bad thing. The Director makes his point: You cannot force your children to be something they are not. People are a product of their upbringing, their surroundings, what they see around them, the culture that they have been immersed in.
Watch this movie, particularly if you are thinking of moving to the USA. This is what it would be like for your family, for your future generations.
