For all the lame critics who wouldn't know a good comedy if they saw one, I must write this review. Van Wilder has to be one of the best college films since Animal House. Ryan Reynolds is phenomenal and really shows just how funny and great of an actor he his. As far as the critics saying that this film was filled with nothing but sick humor, they really must have focused on about 8 minutes of the movie and blown that way out of proportion compared to the other hour and a half or so. Although the storyline wasn't something that could be found in an Oscar winning movie, you'd have to be retarded to expect anything like that in a film such as this. The jokes were great and well thought out with Reynold's performance accentuating them perfectly to the point where any non-stolid/stoic, crotchety old person who complains about films such as these because they can't move along with the times and would rather watch a moralistic movie with a plot so dry that people can barely stay awake through it, would laugh there butts off. Fact is, if you're looking for a comedy, and you have a sense of humor at all, then this movie is perfect. |
