A simple title. A simple setting. A fascinatingly difficult story.
Fat Girl explores issues of family and parenthood quite accurately in a typical disoriented, dysfunctional family setting. But foremost, 'Fat Girl' delves and then dissects the relationship between sisters (particularly two very opposite yet complexly connected sisters) as well as the very real relationship among adolescents and the sexual intensities such relationships accompany.
The film is consistently raw, with few and brief breaks within powerful scenes. The bitter-sweet relationship between the sisters is perfectly played out. The cast of this film is oscar-worthy. This film is daring and leaves no detail untouched. With a surprise, superb ending. I highly reccomend this flick. |
