This was an okay movie. It wasn't the greatest and it wasn't the worst. The acting was okay, the story was okay, and the visuals were great. I loved the dogs, especially Nana, the border collie. The dogs made this movie. Below is a break down.
Story- The story is just okay. It was about a dentist named Ted who goes to Alaska to get his inheritance. Turns out he gets 8 dogs, 7 champion sled dogs and a border collie. When his biological father Thunder Jack (Ted finds out earlier he was adopted) tells him to leave and give him the dogs, he decides to learn how to race his dogs. Just an okay story that could've been a lot better.
Acting- LOVED THE DOGS! They were all well trained. The dogs were fantastic! As for the humans, not so good. Cuba Gooding, Jr. did not do a good job as Ted. He was so fake. All of Ted's emotions were not portrayed well. He was supposed to be a dog hater but I didn't see him acting like that until the middle of the movie. And yes, he was not funny. James Coburn didn't do a very good job, either. Most of the acting was bad in this movie. The dogs were the best actors there. Sad, huh?
Visuals- Very good. The sets were well done. Everything seemed so real. Loved how they used different camera angles to show the scenery. That's important because the audience needs a good idea where the movie is taking place. The visuals added a lot to the movie.
OVERALL- This is a good kids' film. Kids will love the humor, adults won't. But even the adults will fall for the adorable dogs. This isn't a terrible movie. It had its moments. Overall, I think that kids from ages 7-11 will love this movie. Younger kids may be frightened by some parts and older kids will find it boring. So if you have kids, show it to them. They will love it. |
