This is the first modern movie I can think of to create, using modern effects and graphics, a realistic dogfight between WW2 air superiority fighters. The battle between the P-51D Mustang and the Bf-109(either a late G model or the K) is better than anything I have seen yet. The first shot has the 109 coming in at 50-100ft over the Stalag with the 'stang about 50yds behind and a B-17 smoking in the distance, seperated from its bomber box. As the 109 rolls the 51D fires a few bursts as the prisoners cheer on. The fighters pass over the top of the Stalag again, cooking, and real low. The 'stang's fiftes bring victory, but there is no 109 cannon shot(the late G's and K had a 30mm), during the fight, which I though would have made the dogfight perfect. |
