The first time I saw Riding in Cars With Boys I thought it was a little slow, although I like it more every time I watch it. First of all, it's definitely a chick flick. We follow the trials and tribulations of Beverly, who's a lovable person that lives an almost-but-not-quite-tragic life. The first I watched this movie, I thought it was slightly confusing when it jumped from past to present.
Riding in Cars With Boys is based on a true story, and contains one of my all-time favorite quotes for any movie: "One day can make your life; one day can ruin your life. All life is is four or five big days that change everything."
I think "comedy" is inaccurate for the genre. It's more of a drama than a comedy. Brilliant acting by Drew Barrymore, James Woods and Steve Zahn really make this movie enjoyable to watch. |
