Life As A House comes very close to being the newer equal of American Beauty. The only thing missing is some original twists in the storyline.
Nevertheless, this is still a fine piece of cinema...very moving without being corny and overly sentimental.
The story: After finding out he has a terminal illness, architect George Monroe decides to use his time left to its best advantage. He gathers those close to him to help him build his dream house - a metaphor for his life and everything acted.
An outstanding ensemeble of actors really make this movie shine. Kevin Spacey is brilliant and its easy to see that Hayden Christensen will one day be a huge star.
For a movie which is funny, sad, poignant, moving, and so much more, Life As A House is a must-see. |
