An extremely large disappointment, 13 GHOSTS ended up being boring, typical and also very cheesy. The worst was undoubtly the direction. The pace of the film was too slow, unecessarily showing random shots of the house at awkward times, which really tests the audiences patients. Acting was very poor, considering no one had any scope to perform in the first place. The story was just as bad and typical; a family being trapped in a house full of ghosts, and they have to figure out the 'secret' to get out alive. The plus side of this mess was the visuals. The actual house where the film was shot was fantastic. I wouldn't have mind living in a house like that! The 'ghosts' were also done well, with great make up, but sometimes going overboard (ie. the extremely large child and the midget mother, the child having green puke all over himself). Also, was it necessary to have a naked teen ghost? Overall, this film suffers from the 'coulda been' case. It coulda been so much better with better actors, a MUCH better director, and a more unique story. Sadly though, it just ain't never going to happen. VERDICT: SKIP !!! |
