Nothing less than a GREAT movie

If you are looking for a history lesson or are just going out to rent a DVD for that Friday night, Lagaan is the one you need to get your hands on. This movie is absolutely entertaining. From its folk melody of India to its thrilling climax. The acting was superb. The direction...simply outstanding. I was disappointed that the movie did not receive the Oscar, nonetheless it received a nomination which makes you realize that this movie is great. A great performance by Aamir Khan who truly is bollywood's number 1 leading man for great movies. This movie is just not about taxation (Lagaan means taxation in hindi) that the English put on its colonies, but also of a great struggle for the common man to earn his place in society and go beyond social barriers. A must see and a must have for your DVD Collection!!! |
