This film gave me the chills. Even though there is no blood , no violence, no CGI monsters and the rest of the usual horror ingredients this film still manages to be one of the creepiest movies ever made.
For the most part you do not know whether it is a Hitchcock-esque psychological thriller or a horror ghost story ...and you wont know until the final 5 minutes.
Nicoles performance was mind-blowing. Her performance was excellent, and i am not even a fan of hers (infact i cant even stand her).
The overall feel of the film is dark and by the end credits could be considered depressing. In much the same way the sloppy Dawn Of The Dead 2004 had that nihilistic ending that makes you wanna through your hands up in the air and give up struggling through life...The Others has a simular conclusion, but despite the horror of the situation Nicole and her family are about to embark on, the most important thing in life (and death) is love.
Excellent, intelligent , creepy and at times balls out scary as hell....The Others is one of the best psychological Horror movies ever made. |
