Dear producers:
I have an excellent idea for you. Lets spend millions of dollars to poke fun at people who are overweight, then sell it as a product that is supposed to teach people to see inner beauty.
As opposed to just going out on the street and making fun of them for free right to their faces.
Fat jokes are just another form of prejudice, people. It really is the last possible frontier on the PC/non-PC debates. You can't make fun of people for their nationalities, their religions, their financial situations, so this is the only thing society has left as an easy joke. Never mind that overweight people can't necessarily help that they are overweight. Never mind that they are people who have feelings just like thin people. Never mind that they probably feel horrible about themselves every day. Never mind that they get treated like dirt for being overweight every day.
You are also cheapening the very concept you are trying to promote: you are making it seem that it is impossible for someone to find someone who is overweight attractive. You are also implying that attractive people are evil and unattractive people are wonderful. WHen neither is necessarily true.
This movie is offensive, crude, crass and cheap. It promotes an already-too-popular prejudice and encourages people to make fun of other people like they don't matter. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and I really wish it had never been made. I wouldn't see it again if you paid me to! |
