Woody Allen signed a 4 picture deal with DreamWorks. The deal stipulated that all 4 movies must be comedies. Reluctantly agreeing to the deal, Allen decided he would make what could be called dramadies. If you go into "Jade Scorpion" looking for another "Bananas" or "Love and Death" you will be greatly disappointed. If you, however, approach this movie as a drama you will have a wonderful time and more than a few laughs. It's a clever story regarding hypnotic suggestion and it's effects on the Woody Allen and Helen Hunt characters. You also get to check out a pre- "Monster" devastatingly beautiful Charlize Therone. Remember, think of it as a drama and you will have a wonderful time. |
