I just recently saw this movie, and it has quickly become one of my favorite comedies. It has got to be one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.
The script and the actors are hysterical. Perfect casting. These actors really get into their zany characters. Janeane Garofalo and David Hyde Pierce almost steal the show. David Hyde Pierce, whom I'd only seen on Frasier before, pulls off a perfect American accent and is so good you won't even think of him as Frasier's brother. SNL heavyweights Molly Shannon and Amy Poehler round out the hilarious supporting female characters. Paul Rudd plays a sleazy boyfriend. Michael Showalter is the sweet boy rival. And one of my favorite comedians, Michael Ian Black of VH1 fame, plays standout character McKinley, the in-the-closet counselor. There's also a really funny voiceover cameo by Jon Benjamin (Coach McGuirk on "Home Movies") as the talking Can of Vegetables.
This is one comedy not to be missed. The jokes are random, silly, and sometimes downright stupid, but they work! And don't miss the clip at the end of the credits! |
