A disgusting movie
by guy (movies profile)
Nov 26, 2004
Flipping through the channels late at night I came across this movie. Reading the information for it, it seemed interesting. Something about a reality TV show where the contestants hunt each other. I thought it would be a nice drama horror movie or something. WRONG!!
The story turned out to not be that great of a story. It seems the govt has something set up where people all get numbers ala a draft system and are drawn lottery style. These people are then given guns and told to kill the other people or die. Basically fighting a war for nothing more than your life against someone from your own town.
The visuals were the only good thing in the movie. It was filmed and presented like a reality tv show. But that was all that was good. The story had some sort of love story twisted in that seemed thrown in at the last minute to try and hold things together. It might have been better if they had left that part out, and explained the rules a little better.
When I say disgusting, I'm not referring directly to the violence, but rather to the story. Why would the govt let a telivision show like this be filmed? It just doesn't make any sense. It's possible this could be some kind of statement to where our culture is going, but the last time i watched the real world they were all just drinking and having sex with each other. Not shooting at each other.
Watch it if you want but you will probably regret it. Watch something with Jackie Chan or Sylvester Stallone, at least their movies have a valid story line to go with all the sensless violence. |
