I have many, many things to say about this movie. First off it honestly is unlike any movie I have ever seen. While the ending is open, it is not one of those movies that just ends without telling you what you happened. This movie lets you know what happened in the end, it just leaves it open for interpretation. The amazing thing about the script and storyline is that it really does have many different ways it can fit together with many different meanings. I have heard that this movie cost around $4 million to make and grossed around $500,000, which is a tragedy considering how amazing this film is. However I guess this can be viewed as a good thing because the reaction the public had to this movie initially drove Kelly to start writing scripts almost immediately after releasing this ultimate thinking man's movie. What is really neat about this movie is that you must first try to figure out what happened and why it happened that way on your own because the answers are not all right in front of you unless you have the DVD, which even then will take time to piece it together. Me and my friends proposed idea after idea only to have them shot down again and again. After 3 viewings and many hours spent on the internet and going through the deleted scenes do I know feel I have a grasp on the basic storyline and the why behind a majority of the happenings throughout the movie. Simply put this is the best movie I have ever seen, I am a lifelong fan of Richard Kelly's and am anticipating his next release reported to be called "Knowing". |
