Watching "the Butterfly Effect" made me have to see this movie again. Some movies are just really entertaining in a weird way. This movie is one of them for me. I watched this with my mother and later one of my sisters came in for the last half. They didn't laugh nearly as much as I did, so I just have a different since of humor than regular people.
At any rate, the character's real name is Donald Darko, which is pretty funny to start with. One of the characters in the movie even calls attention to this amusing aspect of his name. He's a super smart high school student, but has to see a therapist and take pills for... something. I don't remember why being mentioned. He doesn't like taking the pills, but he ends up doing it anyway. He starts hearing this weird and possibly demonic voice that tells him things. First it leads him out of his house and tells him the world will end in a certain amount of days, hours, minutes, and seconds.
Turns out an airplane engine falls through the Darko house, going through Donnie's room. But there was no airplane missing an engine. Where did it come from? Ask away- this movie will have you constantly guessing. Especially what Donnie's imaginary friend in the form of a guy in a skullfaced rabbit costume really is. I'd tell more, but I don't want to give anything away.
I will give this warning: This movie will keep you guessing and the first time you watch it there will seem to be no closure at the end. Think about the movie and complain about it if you have to, but watch it again a few days later. You'll notice things and explinations during the movie you probably missed the first time. Even then you won't have a definate ending per se, but it is a great ride! ^_^ |
