A fun and delightful movie loosely based on Homer's "The Odyssey". Although, I do not remember the story myself, I guess I really don't care too much. I thought it was quite clever and lightheartedly entertaining.
This is probably the best movie I have seen George Clooney in (other than "Ocean's 11), and John Turturro is entertaining himself. Tim Blake Nelson plays the kindhearted Elmer who agrees with everybody.
The movie is pretty fast paced as it follows the characters throughout the movie, meeting a man who robs banks, along with the "cyclops" played by John Goodman, and he provides and interesting part. It is a funny, but not rolling in the aisles funny, but it is a good film to see in your spare time, and when you don't know what to watch.
The dialogue though is a bit complicated, considering the story takes place in the early 1900's, and it may be a bit to complicated for little kids, but I would still call it a family comedy. I may have liked this movie, but it isn't a movie for everybody. |
