I put off seeing this film for many years, thinking that it was in a foreign language. You should know right from the start that "Chocolat" is in English, and it is a beautiful and witty film. Viane (played by lovely Juliet Binoche) is a free spirit in a conservative French village, and she woos the town with her magical chocolates. The cast is excellent, the story is charming and the end is just right. I highly recommend "Chocolat," especially if you want an intelligent romantic comedy. |
