An original idea, "The Wedding Planner" is about a wedding planner named Maria Fiores (Jennifer Lopez) who falls in love with the groom for one of the weddings she is planning.

The film takes time to show us Mary's private life, which is quite unsocial and unromantic. That's quite unusual for a wedding planner, who has to deal with romance every day of her working life. Her father is always trying to fix her up with Italian men, but Mary doesn't really like them. Mary is also a perfectionist, very clean, and seems to have everything going good for her. She even gets the chance to plan one of the biggest weddings of the year -- Francine Donolly's (Brigette Wilson-Sampras) wedding.

One day, Mary gets into a minor accident, and is rescued by a doctor named Steve Edison (Matthew McConaughey) whom she immediately has feelings for. She believes he feels the same way... they even go on a date. Tensions rise once she finds out he is the one getting married to Francine.

I wouldn't exactly say "The Wedding Planner" was the funniest movie of the year, because I would be wrong. There are plenty of movies that are funnier than this one. If you want to catch a movie, and like romantic comedies, check it out. It's not a must-see, but it funny from time to time.
