Down to Earth is an idiotic comedy with Chris Rock (in another sub-par, stereotypical role)as a horrible satnd up comic who is killed before his time. Consequently he is sent back down to Earth in the body of fat, old, rich guy who was recently murdered by his scheming collegues. This film is actually a reworking of Heaven Can Wait with Warren Beatty, which was also a redoing of another older moldy film. This one is pretty stupid, with gags that fall flat and plenty of race inspired jokes that aren't funny unless your idea of funny is watching a fat old guy rap to DMX and then get beat up. This derivative, formula trash is predictable and tedious. It could've been creative and had fun with premise but chooses not to. This movie is lazy and badly scripted and paced. Rock is painfully unfunny, even as an old white guy. |
