My personal favarite movie!

It is VERY tastefully done! I think it is easy for a lot of people to overlook the cinematic angles, colors, and all the languages used in the movie to create "the mood for love" So many shots were done so subtly and if you don't understand Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, and Shanghai-ese, one can easily miss several subtle messages. i.e. When Maggie's boss decided to change the tie to have dinner with his wife for her birthday, he said that the first tie was too "flowery". "Flowery" in Chinese can imply infidelity. So, he decided to put on a less "flowery" tie to have dinner with his wife. How subtle is that? Also, how many times did they use the gift of a tie to suggest romance and love.
Even then, it took me watching the movie several times to really understand how fantastically the movie was directed and filmed--the Spanish music, poetic Chinese writings at the beginning and at the end, and the subtle cultural limitations the two characters were bounded by.
I wish more people can see what I saw!
