Had its moments, lacked an overall greatness

I went into this movie with a liking of Pollock's artwork, and an interest in finding out a bit more about what would drive him to create such emotion filled paintings. Though I felt as if Ed Harris did a great job playing the role, it felt as if little insight to his creative process was revealed.
Overall, the movie seemed a bit disconnected from scene to scene. The plot line was a bit too incoherant, which sometimes threw me off and made it hard to engage.
Also, I didn't enjoy Marcia Gay Harden (Hayden?) in her portrayel of Pollock's wife. It felt as if the role was forced, and that all the dialgoue was very carefully and overly considered. Also, her New York accent sounded like a muddled mix of a southern/British/somewhat New York sound, so I found it hard to really relate to her character. It felt unnatural.
Ed Harris did a wonderful job acting though...he really seemed to capture the essence of Pollock and really made it hard to like him as a person.
So, overall, it wasn't bad. There were a few Hollywood moments that seemed silly and a bit far-fetched (Pollock deciding to transition to "drip-style" after accidentally spilling paint on the ground, for example). Though, for the most part, it was an engaging movie, and I don't regret seeing it.
