My husband and I really enjoyed this movie. We actually commented on the acting, which we thought was a cut above most horror movies. In particular, Sid Haig as Captain Spaulding is hilarious and evil at the same time. And Karen Black still looks good! We enjoyed the cuts to old films, etc... most of the time, although after a while it became overdone and boring. The segues from clips to action were quite clever. Our only real complaint, was that there was never any motivation given for the psychotic hillbilly family. Who were they, and why had they constructed such an elaborate torture chamber? We also applaud the incredible lack of awful computer generated special effects. Give us a good skin suit any day! |
