Yeah, it's silly, but this is the best of the Friday the 13th series. It's basically Carrie vs. Jason. An inexplicably telekinetic girl goes to Crystal Lake to get studied by an uber-creep with an agenda. Turns out that's all the plot there is! Because then Jason shows up to slaughter a few more teens and the movie goes from there.
Besides the "silly" factor, this movie is actually quite decent. High re-watch value for horror buffs. The special effects are amazing and the kills are as creative as they'll ever get -- capped, of course, with the "sleeping bag" murder in which Jason rolls a pretty lady up and slams her repeatedly against a tree. Brilliant! Where's Martin Scorsese now, beeatch?
Some guy gets an axe in the face. An ugly broad is cut in half with a farm instrument. Alanis Morrisette is tossed out a window and lands on a car. Dr. Doom is done in with another yard tool. The gore just doesn't stop coming! Oh, and then the whole house blows up for no good reason! Wow! Was it all a dream? Who cares?
Also, the rich woman whom nobody likes gets an axe to the face and thrown into a TV set. This is social commentary at its best. The rich, their minds vaporized by ego and television, deserve axes of social vengeance in the face. It's true. Read yer history books and you'll see. Friday the 13 Part 7 is mentioned in all of them. |
