I had never seen this movie until about three hours ago. The recommendation mechanism on this site didn't think that I'd like it, so I'd like to prove them wrong.
"Bambi" is a classic for all ages. The story is kid-friendly and adults can enjoy it, as well. There's nothing to really compromise the appeal generated by such a magnificent film.
The people who did the voices for the various animals were spectacular. Bambi's childhood voice is especially noteworthy here. The different songs in this movie were cute, although not particularly memorable in when compared to the later Disney movies. No attempts at pretentiousness were made in this film, nor were there any joke just for kids or just for adults in order to maintain interest. This made the film perfect for the family.
The direction was stellar. There weren't any unnecessary parts in this movie nor did it wear out its welcome with the viewers. With a running time that was only a few minutes over an hour, this movie kept perfect time.
The animation is quite beautiful. Each frame was drawn impeccably and the animals (particularly Flower the Skunk) were all a joy to watch. The movie was shot using just the right film technique. The colors were also not too dark nor too bright, but just right.
This movie was a must-see when it first came out in 1942 and remains a must-see 64 years later! |
