The Best David Copperfield Adaptation Ever

Out of all the David Copperfield movies that have been made, the BBC's David Copperfield is the most accurate and better of them all. The movie follows faithfully to Charles Dicken's autobiographical novel. Part 1 introduces Daniel Radcliffe as young David. Radcliffe is perfect as David, with his cherub cheeks. He is simply adorable and his scenes with his stepfather, Mr. Murdstone, are perfect, not too mention his most memorable scenes are with his aunt, played by the fantastic Dame Maggie Smith. The casting is perfect, although the only qualms I had with it was just the casting for older David. Ciaran McMenamin is not the David I imagined and I think the 2000 David Copperfield's Hugh Dancy was the better casting as older david. Anyways Bob Hopskins is hilarious as Mr. Micawber while Nicholas Lyndhurst was the perfect Uriah Heep. He was creepy and evil enough to pass off as the conniving villian with his red hair and menacing sneer. Kudos to Amanda Ryan and Joanna Page for their perfect portrayals of Agnes Wickfield and Dora Spenlow respectively. I cannot end this review without mentioning Ian McKellen as the knarly old Creakle, Trevor Eve as Mr. Murdstone (oh! he was evil! I felt so bad for little Davy) and Pauline Quirke as Peggoty (she was perfect, with the right amount of humor and warmth). I'd like to mention one more person and that is Alun Armstrong. His portrayal of Daniel Peggoty was so sweet and touching that you felt his struggle as he tries to ask Peggoty to marry him.

This is by far, the BBC's best adaptation of classical novels. The actors, with the exception of Ciaran (sorry Ciaran, i keep on picking on you, but this role just wasn't right) were born for their roles. I don't think there is another version that rivals that of this one
