Picture in your mind a great anime, complete with compeling plot and mind blowing action and visuals. Now imagine that anime with the first 1/3 of movie cut and the "mind blowing action", minus the mind blowing. And voila, you have X. The creators thrust you into a (surprise) story about earths destruction without any storyline explanation. Even worse there is absolultely no character depth to speak of. You are literaly introduced to these characters by name and power and now all you have are long drawn out battles to decide Tokyos fate. I guess Tokyo is special like that. Anyway, elements that are supposed to instill emotional responses from you end up making you think "ok .... ". Hell even the creators on the DVD admit they had to cut out story in editing. You should have just redid the whole damn movie. It could have been good. |
