This is my favorite Jet Li film, followed closely by Fist of Legend. As this is a martial arts film, don't expect much from the acting department, although it is actually better than in most martial arts movies. The fight scenes are absolutely amazing. I would have to watch it again, but I would venture to say the best fighting in any movie I have seen. The story is also interesting: it is the history of a large portion of the Shaolin Temple squeezed into a short span of time (so they can have the main character experience it all.) I would definitely reccommend watching it with subtitles instead of dubbing, mostly because I hated Jet Li's English voiceover (the word "master" instead of "sifu" REALLY grated on me). But still, one of the greatest martial arts movies I have ever experienced. |
