Godfather be damned, this is the true heavyweight champ of mob movies. It took Scorsese to really tell it like it was. Devoid of the "epic" feeling of the Godfather saga -this is the mob as it was - a bunch of guys trying to work their respective rackets, and trying not to get killed or pinched. Brilliant performances by Pesci, Liotta, and DeNiro. Great soundtrack. Scorcese was robbed for the Oscar.
So many great quotes:
"...I'm funny? What do you mean I'm funny"
Jimmy Two-times: "I'm gonna go get the papers, get the papers."
"If another letter from that school gets to that kid's house -in the f***in oven you're gonna go!"
(while digging up a corpse) "Here's a leg, hey Henry whaddya like better the leg or the wing?"
Karen: what do you do?
Henry: I'm in construction.
Karen: Those hands don't look like they're in construction.
Henry: I'm a union delegate.
I can't say enough about this movie -the clothes the food, the script, the shots: I've seen it at least 20 times and I'm still not tired. |
