This was Sam Neill's first foray into America cinema (I think before that he had become a star already in his native Australia via some Peter Weir flick), and I thought he did a fantastic job. He could have really been cheesy and over-the-top, but one thing I like about all the actors that played Damien in each movie is that they were so understated, the evil was implied more than rammed in your face. I HATED the ending of this film, I was really looking forward to a kind of epic battle between Christ and the Anti-Christ, and one can only hope that if they end up making three again this go-round after the new Omen comes out--which I would bet money they are--the third one will be a little more epic with today's available technology. Other than the ending though I found this to be a great and terrifying movie. |
