A suberbly enacted movie set prior to the days of the French revolution era. The movie delves into the the lives of prisoners residing in the infamous Bastille, their terrors and tumultuous existence. Those are the conditions that cause within them a sense of isolation and expressive ennui which cause them to go mad creatively and revert to abnormal, animal behavior.Marvelous performances and cinematography. What a way to go. Similar-- "Madness of King George" |
