Kind of odd. There are seven critic reviews on Yahoo! All are negitive, 8 including the Movie Mom. There are six critics whose I opinion I care about, James Berardinelli, Peter Travers, Ebert and Roeper, Leonard Maltin, and Joblo, AKA: Berge Garabedian. Four of them gave this a positive review.
15 Minutes is no Robert De Niro Classic in the tradition of Raging Bull or Goodfellas, but it is formidable. It is about a cop, De Niro, and an arson investigator, Burns, who are on the trail of a pair of killers who videotape their murders in the aim to become media sensations.
There are acouple good action scenes along the way, some very tense moments, and some style as well. The only shocking thing about 15 minutes is that the best performance doesnt come from De Niro, or Burns, or even Kelsey Grammer as a reporter. They come from a pair of russian guys, Karel Roden and Oleg Taktarov as the killers.
The story is unexeptional, but it isnt as terrible as many would have you belive. Yes, this would have been more shocking 20 years ago, but it still works well. And the supporting cast is superb. 15 Minutes is a pretty formidable thriller. ***(Out of ****)
