15 Minutes is one of the most abhorrently reviewed best films of all time. I think the acting in this movie is top notch and the story line fresh and different. Some people think the story line is far fetched and nonsensical, but I believe if watched and carefully considered it not only makes sense, but it is well told and well edited. Heck, there's several parts that are quite funny.
The director makes use of several complex steadicam shots that really tie things together and put you in the scene. Almost Cops-like in its presentation it's shocking to me to read some of the unfavorable reviews coming from a public so caught up in reality TV. Perhaps it's because so many deny that something like this could happen in America -- that someone could get away with murder. Or maybe the mindless drivel that is marked "reality" has really just dumbed us down as a nation. Na, that was done years ago.
DiNiro and Burns are fantastic. Roden and Taktarov are flawless in their performances right down to the smallest detail. Roden can move you with just the expression on his face without speaking a word, and is truly an excellent actor. The action sequences are well done and shot.
Overall, this movie has an exciting plot, very good camera word and editing, excellent acting and a thoughtful storyline. It's more than just entertainment -- it's a movie that should leave you thinking about America, the cops and the world in which we live. It is funny, satirical but yet so close to reality or what reality could be one day. The ending is an exciting culmination of events that ultimately destroys our hero and our antagonists, which is likely why so many people hate this film. But no one said life was a bed of roses. |
